West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin on Monday, September 12, 2022, received investment experts from Unico and Mancini Technologies.
The experts were in the county to deliberate on areas of partnership, with a key highlight on Nasukuta Export Abattoir.
A team led by Mario Mancini from Unico Technologies and Eng. Preculan Stefan, Export Manager at Mancini Technologies later went on a site visit at the Nasukuta Export Abattoir facility in Chepareria.

While hosting the experts, Governor Kachapin pointed out that his administration is keen on deepening relations with partners to help improve the county’s economy by expanding into untapped development opportunities.
He further said he’ll work closely with partners to facilitate the expansion of trade and investment, support structural transformation and foster economic growth and sustainable development.
Nasukuta Export Abattoir tour
Earlier in the week, the governor and his deputy Robert Komolle toured Nasukuta Export Abattoir to ascertain the progress of the multi-million project in Chepareria.
Together with representatives from World Bank, the governor toured the abattoir and said his administration will ensure that the project is operationalized by early next year.

He emphasized the economic value of the project and pointed out that it will be a key project on his agenda, and asked all involved in the project to fast-track its completion and implementation.
He further reiterated that the county will seek advice from experts and investors in livestock export markets to see the project to fruition and achieve its intended purpose.
The Ksh178 million project co-funded by the European Union through its Instruments for Devolution Advice and Support (IDEAS) programme, the National Government and County Government of West Pokot, will offer a ready market for pastoralists and help fight poverty in the semi-arid region.
Further, the abattoir will enhance livestock trade and improve income for pastoralists as well as plough back profits to improve the welfare of the local community.
