Photos: Ruto, Gachagua Take Oath of Office

Dr William Ruto on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, took an oath of office to be the country’s fifth president in a colourful ceremony held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani in Nairobi.

Dr Ruto was sworn in by the Registrar of Judiciary Ann Amadi in front of Chief Justice Martha Koome, as required by the constitution.

Moments later, his deputy Rigathi Gagachua also took the oath of office to be the second Deputy President of Kenya under the 2010 constitution.

After his swearing-in, the President received instruments of power from his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.

Over 10 heads of state from across the continent were among hundreds of dignitaries that joined thousands of Kenyans witnessing the swearing-in ceremony.
