KCB Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uasin Gishu County Government under the 2Jiajiri programme.
The MoU aims to expand access to vocational training for young people through a matching-funds model that accelerates youth empowerment.
Speaking during the signing, KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo emphasised the shared commitment to sustainable livelihoods.
“Through the 2Jiajiri programme, we are intentionally investing in skills that translate into real economic opportunity. This matching-funds approach allows us to scale our impact and ensure more young people in Uasin Gishu are equipped for employment, entrepreneurship and long-term participation in the economy,” Njonjo noted.
Under the agreement, KCB Foundation will commit Ksh 25 million, matched shilling-for-shilling by the County Government, to create a Ksh 50 million skills development fund.
The investment will support vocational and technical training, equipping youth with practical, market-ready skills to strengthen employability and enterprise development across the county.
Uasin Gishu has 13 VTCs, and the county plans to construct two new ones in this financial year. Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim recently announced that Ksh 43 million has been allocated for this purpose.
