Emergency and rescue teams from various departments are trying to contain a fire that has broken out at one of the buildings within Kitale Town.
Fire engines from Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and West Pokot counties are already at the scene.
Kenya Red Cross, Kenya Police and enforcement teams are also involved in the response.
The building on fire hosts among others Premkar hardware.
According to an eyewitness who works at the hardware, the fire started from the first floor of the business premises.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established. It is also not clear if there are persons trapped in the building.
According to the chairperson of the Kenya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Trans Nzoia Branch, Titus Kilong’i, the business owner might have lost properties of unknown value.
He called on the County government of Trans Nzoia to make emergency recovery services more efficient as well as install water points at strategic places
