The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentist Union (KMPDU) will be holding weekly protests.
According to the doctor’s union, the protests will be to among others push for the arrest and prosecution of individuals behind the attack of its Secretary General Devji Atellah.
The KMPDU SG was attacked on Thursday as he led a protest to Afia House in Nairobi.
On Friday, members of KMPDU North Rift branch held a peaceful protest to condemn the incident.

Led by branch regional Secretary Dr Kamonzi Mulei, the doctor’s union members demanded that relevant government agencies takes actions to bring perpetrators to book.
Assassin attempt on Dr Attelah
“We have first information that this was an attempted assassination to the Secretary-General KMPDU, Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah,” Mulei told Journalists in Eldoret.
“How a peaceful, unarmed, and law-abiding crowd of doctors were met with the full force of police brutality is a question that only Prof. Kithure Kindiki and Mr. Japhet Koome can answer,” he added.
Aside from seeking attacker’s arrest, KMPDU also said they will continue protesting until the Ministry of Health deploys medical interns.

They said the interns play a key role in enhancement of service delivery in the health sector as well as for their personal career growth.
The North Rift KMPDU officials further warned that failure by the ministry to address their concerns might culminate in an industrial action.
“Doctors in this country will, like the same missile launched on us, launch weekly demonstrators which will culminate into a total paralysis of all hospitals in this country until our demands are met as well as the perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to book,” the North Rift KMPDU secretary said.
He addressed the press after a peaceful protest from the Moi University School of Health Sciences offices to Eldoret Town.
