KMTC Shines at CIO100 East Africa Awards

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) was on November 24, 2023 crowned the winner of the regional CIO100 Symposium and Awards in the Education Sector category.

Winning from a pool of over 600 firms that joined the competition, the College was honored with the prestigious Plus One Award in recognition of its outstanding digital transformation efforts, particularly in eLearning and simulation laboratory implementation.

In recognition of these accomplishments, the College was presented with a trophy, along with two Silver and one Bronze Mark by the event organizers.

Upon receiving the good news, KMTC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Kelly Oluoch commented, “We are so excited with this recognition. It is one of the best gifts we have received this year.”

The victory is a significant achievement, and it highlights our dedication to embracing digitalization,” he added.

The award comes a month after the College launched its Strategic Plan 2023-2028, which places digitalization at the core of its service delivery over the next five years.

Dr. Oluoch extended gratitude to the College fraternity for their incredible support, singling out ICT and Corporate Communications team for spearheading the award.

Organized by the African digital transformation driver, dx5, the CIO100 Awards program celebrates organizations and individuals utilizing IT innovatively to deliver business value, whether by creating a competitive advantage, optimizing business processes, enabling growth, improving customer relationships, or digitally transforming the business.

The ICT Manager Dr. Kenneth Riany who received the award on behalf of the College thanked the organizers of the event for acknowledging KMTC.

He also thanked the CEO and the ICT team for their immense support.

KMTC has achieved significant digital transformation milestones, such as connecting internet to all 74 campuses, implementing online admissions, automating and integrating student application process, verification of certificates and transcripts with the e-citizen platforms.

The event, held in Mombasa, also acknowledged winners in various categories, including Ashok Shah of APA Insurance (CXO of The Year Award), Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (Public Sector Award), and the County Government of Nyandarua (Local Government Award), among others.
