Wife to former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament Willam Chepkut is now claiming existence of a plot to disinherit her.
Milka Chepkut, who was wife to the late MP for 25 years claims the family of her husband had resorted to intimidations and harrasment in what she notes relates to fight over her matrimonial home in Kapsundei.
Part of the plot, Milka claims, led to her recent arrest and illegal detention at the Kaptagat Police Station.
She was released on January 13, 2023, with the police not preffering any charges against her.

“I came to Kapsudei to pick some things so that I can go with them to Kaptagat, but before I opened the door, I noticed the padlock had been changed. I had to call someone to cut it but before I finished, the Kaptagat OCS came with two policemen. They beat me and drove us to the police station,” Chepkut’s wife told journalists.
“They locked me in the cell for the whole night and until now I have not been presented in court,” she added.
Private security
According to the late Chepkut’s wife, the arrest is related to the attempt by her inlaws to take over her matrimonial home.
She says the family had already hired a private security firm to guard the house, locking her out.
“It is just months since my husband died and I am already being harassed. I am still mourning my husband and I want the state to intervene,” Milcah said.
Simialar sentiments were shared by her two children.
Led by Christian Kipkoech and Nicholas Cheput, the two sons of the late former MP accused the Kaptagat OCS of having an intrest in their father’s property.

“The police claim my mother was arrested because of damanging property. How can she damage her own property here at Kapsundei,” said Chepkut’s second born – Nicholas.
“We have been subject to continuous harassment since our father was buried. When shall this stop?” added Kipkoech, the first born.
The sons are now calling on friends of their late father to intervene and ensure the matter is addressed as soon as possible.
Before the burial of the former MP, Milka had moved to court, accusing the family of sidelining her from funeral plans.
The matter was later solved out of court.

Cheput who served as Ainabkoi MP between 2013 and 2017 died on October 8, 2022, at Mediheal Hospital in Parklands, Nairobi after a long illness.
