Uasin Gishu Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar’s political career seems not over just yet.

Prof. Kamar’s up and down career was considered to have come to an end after she announced that she will not be defending her seat in the upcoming general election – after serving for one term.

But in what might come as a sign of light at the end of the tunnel, the current Senate Deputy Speaker has landed a nomination to the Senate.

The Jubilee party has nominated the Senator alongside former Marakwet East Member of Parliament Lina Jebii Kilimo.

Kilimo is currently the Gender Chief Administrative Secretary.

She served as a Member of Parliament from 2013 before losing the seat to the current MP Bowen Kangogo in 2017.

Kilimo and Prof. Kamar have been nominated to the Senate by the Jubilee party alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta’s elder sister Kristina Wambui and Ann Kananu, the current Nairobi governor.

Kenyan Ambassador to Iran Rukia Ahmed Subo Muhamed has also been nominated to Senate.

Each party is allowed to list up to 16 individuals that will be considered for nomination to the Senate, depending on the strength of the party after a general election.

In the list of individuals, the Jubilee party wants to be nominated to the National Assembly is Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and Azimio la Umoja presidential campaign team member Alex Materer from Trans Nzoia County.
