What Ruto said about Moi University

Changes to the Moi University council come barely a week after President William Ruto promised to address the financial challenges facing the Uasin Gishu-based university.

He spoke during a development tour of the county.

We will put in place an efficient management team and allocate it enough resources so that Moi University can thrive like the other public universities,” Ruto said while at Ngeria Technical Training Institute in Kapseret Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, when opened the college on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The university has in recent years faced disruption of learning due to regular workers’ industrial action over unpaid salaries and failure to remit their statutory deductions.

Currently, the staff are back on strike after the university failed to honour a return to work-agreement signed on November 30, 2024.
