Moi University School Of Law Shines Again At International Moot Court Competitions

Moi University School of Law registered impressive results in the just concluded International Moot Court competitions on Human Rights.

A team representing the Annex-based school of law in Eldoret town finished third in the competition that was held at New Law School College, in Pune, India.

The competition was held over the weekend.

Moi University School of Law was also representing Kenya at the global event.

An update on the university’s social media pages indicates that the team was led by coach Denis Moroga with Lawrer Bina as well as Danson Ndunda being team members.

Moi University, School of Law team comprising of the Coach: Mr. Denis Moroga, team members: Lawrer Bina and Danson Ndunda have emerged as 2nd Runners Up at the just concluded International Moot Court competitions on Human Rights held on 25th – 26th March 2023 in New Law School College, Pune – India,” the university posted on their official social media pages on March 27, 2023.

Moot Court Competition

The Moot Court Competition is the largest gathering of students, academics and judges around the theme of human rights in the world.

A team of two students from each university – preferably one woman and one man (gender diversity is encouraged) – is invited to participate in the competition.

The best 10 teams from each UN region are then invited to participate in the online preliminary rounds.

Teams then have to argue the two sides of the hypothetical case, representing, alternatively, both the Applicant and the Respondent before a ‘bench’ of human rights experts.

The 16 best teams then proceed to the in-person Octofinal rounds, which are presided over by international human rights experts.

Aside from the International Moot Court competitions on Human Rights, the Moi University School of Law will in April also represent Kenya for Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington DC for

This is after they emerged winners of the competition event held at the Kenya School of Law on 25th February 2023.
