The County Government of Uasin Gishu has revealed plans to update the Moi’s Bridge Health Center to be a level four facility.
County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Dr Sam Kotut says the plan seeks to ensure the facility effectively handles all the health needs of the locals.
The health centre currently handles an average of 5,500 patients every month.
“As a Department, we want to upgrade this facility to level four to enhance service delivery and equip it with the requirements of a sub-county hospital such as theatre, lab, ICU, HDU, x-ray, backup generator, dental equipment, dialysis among others,” said Dr Kotut.

He spoke during a visit to the facility on Tuesday.
The County Executive further noted that they will embrace an Integrated approach in ensuring that efficient and effective services are offered to the residents.
On his part, Moi’s Bridge MCA Patrick Kimaiyo rallied the residents not to shy away from visiting the facility for health needs.
He said the health centre has sufficient drugs and capability to handle patients seeking medical services.
“Let us create awareness among our people on the services we offer because this administration has provided us with enough drugs in the facility,” Kimaiyo said.

Later, the Health County Executive and his team visited Jabali dispensary to check on the staff auditing and level of service delivery.
At the Dispensary, Dr Kotut pledged to fast-track a Bill of Quantities that seeks to hasten the completion works of the staff quarters.
Ward Hospitals
This is even as the county works on plans to elevate the facility to a health centre to enhance 24HR services.
Meanwhile, the County Health boss has revealed plans to identify one health facility in every ward that will be upgraded for first-hand diagnostics and installation of modern equipment.
This move, Dr Kotut says, is aimed at reducing referral cases at the ward level.
He made the remarks during a visit to Chepsaita, Chepkemel, Osorongai, Ngenyilel and Murgusi health facilities in Ngenyilel ward, Turbo sub-county.

Dr. Kotut, while in the visits urged the facility management to embrace good relations with the staff so that the residents can benefit from the services.
“Let’s work together by enhancing communication for effective service delivery and also rally the residents that we have enough drugs in the facilities,” said Dr Kotut.
On his part, Ngenyilel ward Member of the County Assembly Benjamin Natui highlighted the importance of teamwork for the benefit of the residents seeking services in the facilities. He also noted that teamwork enhances quality service delivery.
