New Roads Chief Officer Calls for Panctuality Among Staff

The newly appointed Uasin Gishu Chief Officer for Roads Geoffrey Kirwa Tanui, has urged all staff in the Department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works to prioritize punctuality as a means to improve team dynamics, boost productivity, and enhance overall efficiency.

On Friday, Tanui convened two consultative meetings with the Transport and Mechanical Services team in the morning, and later in the afternoon with the Fire and Rescue team.

During these engagements, he underscored the significance of starting the day on a positive note by being punctual, emphasizing that this habit fosters efficiency, ensuring projects commence on time and minimizing delays.

I believe in teamwork and a family-oriented work culture. The Governor has great confidence in you as a key department in fulfilling his pre-election promises to the people of Uasin Gishu. Maintaining punctuality will not only enhance efficiency but also positively impact career growth,” he stated.

The Department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works which aligns with Nguzo Number Six on infrastructure development, plays a critical role in the realisation of the county target of grading at least 1,200 kilometres of roads and gravelling about 300 kilometres annually.

The Chief Officer also assured staff that Governor Dr. Bii has plans to procure additional fire engines, urging them to maintain punctuality as a mark of professionalism and respect for their roles.

He further highlighted that fostering a culture of timeliness contributes to individual career success and enhances the efficiency of the devolved unit.

To further inspire his teams, he pledged to seek lasting solutions to the concerns raised during the meetings. He also encouraged open communication among staff and supervisors regarding any delays or challenges, reinforcing accountability and proactive problem-solving.

While addressing the Fire and Rescue team, CO Tanui stressed the importance of devolving fire services and reviving the partnership between Minneapolis City and the County Government of Uasin Gishu. This collaboration previously facilitated exchange programs in fire and rescue operations, health, and education, and he expressed interest in re-establishing this relationship for mutual benefit.

Present during the two meetings were Director (Administration) Mark Tarus, Director (Fire and Rescue Management) Lazarus Sile, Senior Fire Officer Hassan Wangwero, Stanley Kosgey (Incharge Transport ), Eng Abraham Misoi (Acting Director Mechanical Services), Angela Kimwattan (Administration) among others.
