Cattle Dips Management committees and farmers in Tindiret Sub County have been encouraged to observe the best Livestock Production Practices in order to realize increased animal production.
Speaking at a recently renovated Maraba Cattle Dip at Kabolebo in Songhor/Soba Ward, the Chief Officer for Agriculture Mr. Wilson Lelei led Livestock farmers on a free dipping exercise after delivering Acaricide from Nandi Governor Stephen Sang.
He stressed that “revival of all the Cattle Dips and ensuring sustained operations is crucial in making our county disease-free with a sustainable supply of quality livestock products to all our markets in the county and beyond”.
Lelei added that the exercise will act as a platform to harness agricultural potentials geared toward ensuring Food and Nutrition Security and creating wealth to eradicate poverty.
The Chief Officer urged Nandi residents to embrace the best animal husbandry practices for the betterment of the Livestock Production Sector.
He also inspected Kabutie and Got Ne Lel Cattle Dips.
Livestock keeping is one of the major economic activities amongst communities living in Nandi County.
Tea and maize are other crops that locals depend on to earn living.
With agriculture being a devolved function, there have been efforts by the County Government of Nandi to support farmers in all the major sub-sectors.
