The national government is expanding Kimalel Junior School in Pionerr, Kipkenyo Ward within Kapseret Sub-County.
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi says the expansion, which is already in progress, is aimed at ensuring the school has adequate facilities to cater for the growing population of learners in the area.
Sudi said that with the ongoing affordable housing project in Pioneer, at least 2,000 additional learners are expected to seek admission at the Kimalel Junior School.
The housing project, which is now at an advanced staged has 2,300 units.
“Kimalel Junior School in Pioneer, Kipkenyo Ward, is expanding to cater for the growing population. The school’s expansion is driven by the nearby affordable housing project, which has 2300 units and is expected to bring in around 2000 learners,” the MP said.
“With a current population of 2,700 students, the school is projected to serve 5000 learners, addressing the urgent need for education in the area,” he added.
Among the expansions being done at Kimalel Junior School are additional classrooms, three laboratories and a staffroom.
Others are basketball courts and a multi-purpose hall.
“The expansion includes 35 classrooms, 3 labs, a library, admin offices, a staffroom, a kitchen, civil works (sewer and roads), 2 basketball courts, a dining hall, and a multipurpose hall – set to provide students with a conducive learning environment and modern amenities,” the Kapseret MP noted.
