Paediatric Playground, Cardiac Unit to Be Set Up at Huruma Sub-County Hospital

The county government of Uasin Gishu in partnership with Israel has initiated plans to set up a paediatric playground at the Huruma Sub-County Hospital in Turbo Sub-County.

This is part of Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration’s commitment to enhancing quality, timely and effective healthcare services to its residents across the County as outlined in his development blue-print – Nguzo Kumi.

On Thursday, Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health, Joyce Sang, visited the Huruma Sub-County Hospital to identify the ground where the Israeli Government will establish the paediatric playground.

The playground will also act as a source of therapy for the children.

The Israeli Government has pledged to sponsor the construction of a pediatric playground and a cardiac care unit at the hospital, a significant development for the facility, which has been working to provide adequate healthcare services to residents of Uasin Gishu County.

Children’s growth, health and development

Speaking during the visit, CO Sang noted that the playground will provide a much-needed space for children to play and engage in physical activities because it is essential for their growth, health and development.

The Israel government’s commitment to supporting healthcare services in our County is a testament to their goodwill and commitment to improving the lives of the residents because of our reflection with them in the shared values such as compassion and social justice,” said the CO.

She also noted that the construction of the pediatric playground will go a long way in improving healthcare services in the area and enhancing the quality of life for the residents.

On his part, Israel’s ambassador to Kenya, Michael Lotem, pledged to work with the County Government to improve the healthcare services.

In addition, Lotem said, will set up the pediatric playground and install the  Cardiac Care Unit which will provide specialized care for patients with heart conditions.

The cardiac care unit is a critical service that is currently lacking in many healthcare facilities in the area, the specialized health service will be a boost to healthcare in the county.
