The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has warned motorists against using part of the Marigat-Loruk Road which was closed in August 2025.
The road was closed due to flooding of the road caused by the fast rising water levels of Lake Baringo.
In a public notice issued on Friday, March 13, 2026, KeNHA insisted that the affected part of the road is still unsafe.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to remind the public that the Marigat-Loruk (B17) Road between Km 29+800 and Km 40+000 is still closed since August 21, 2025,” read part of the notice.

The agency asked motorist to continue using alternative diversion of the route provided.
It noted that the diversion is at Km 29+200 on the Marigat-Loruk Road that interest on Loruk-Chemolongot at Km 2+400.
“The authority cautions road users against any attempt to use this section of the road in the interest of their safety,” it noted.
This is even as KeNHA assured that it remains committed to ensure seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage of goods and services for economic prosperity.
“At KeNHA, your safety is our utmost priority,” the agency said.
