President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday hosted President-elect Dr. William Samoei Ruto at State House, Nairobi, ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration ceremony.
After the meeting, President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta conducted the President-elect and First Lady in-waiting Rachel Ruto on a tour of State House as part of the official handing-over process.
The meeting between President Kenyatta and President-elect Dr. Ruto, State House said affirms that all preparations for the inauguration are complete.
Later, the outgoing Head of State gave his fairwell address to the nation.
During the address, Uhuru outlined some of the milestones that his government has achieved since 2013 when he took over as the fourth President.
They include overseeing rollout of devolution that has since over Ksh2.5 trillion transferred to all the 47 devolved units in the last 10 years as well doubling number of tarmacked kilometres of roads.
“We hand over in unbroken chain 11,500 kilometres of newly tarmacked roads under our administration,” Uhuru said in a televised address.
Introduction of Huduma Centres and E-Citizen is another key achievement that the outgoing President named as some of his major accomplishes as Kenyans can now apply for passports, business registration and driver’s licence among others online.
Analogue to digital TV and Radio transition, tripled country’s GDP and doubling of local revenue from Ksh800 million to Ksh2 trillion is another milestone for Uhuru.
