Uasin Gishu County Woman Member of Parliament Gladys Boss Shollei has dismissed reports that a committee set up to oversee the smooth transition of power from the outgoing to the incoming president has been disbanded.
Claims of the disbandment of the committee emerged after the Azimio coalition filed a petition challenging Dr William Ruto’s win in the August 9 presidential election.
But according to the County Woman MP, the committee is still intact and the transition process is ongoing.

Shollei is part of a team that the President-elect has seconded to the transition committee chaired by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.
“Everything is in order and I want to announce to you that the transition process is ongoing,” said the vocal legislator during the swearing-in of Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja on August 25, 2022.
“I have heard claims this morning that the transition committee has been disbanded. I want to assure you that the committee has not been disbanded. We have held several committee meetings since yesterday. Today we are attending another meeting and tomorrow we are scheduled to hold one more meeting,” she added.
Getting briefs
Further, the legislator revealed that the President-elect is already getting briefs from relevant government officers as required by the law.

“Already, all the top government officials have briefed the president-elect. This is a sure way that transition is happening,” she noted.
According to the constitution, once the electoral body declares and gazettes the president-elect, he/she is required to get briefings from key government institutions among them the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
The briefings are required to be facilitated by the transition committee that is comprised of the Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) and Principal Secretary (PS), Chief of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director General and the Attorney General among others.
