The County Government of Uasin Gishu is set to embark on a new road maintenance program. The program will use a unique model to target all roads damaged during heavy rainfall.
This program is aligned with Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s Agenda Six on infrastructure development, prioritizing enhanced road networks across all wards.
On Monday, a team led by Roads County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Eng. Joseph Lagat and his Finance counterpart Micah Rogony convened a strategic meeting at the County Yard with the assembly’s task force members on mechanical and equipment evaluation.
The task force, chaired by Langas Member of County Assembly (MCA) Francis Muya aims to ensure the smooth execution of the program, focusing on roads as the backbone of the county’s economic development.
Key areas for the success of the program include; effective maintenance and utilization of county machinery, active involvement of human resources, clearing outstanding payments to contractors, ensuring adequate fuel supply, and enhancing operator productivity together with strengthening collaboration with stakeholders.
Notable county officials and leaders present were the Leader of Majority Julius Sang, Chief officers Eng. Abraham Kiptalam (Roads), as well as Eliud Chemaget (Finance) among other officials.
