Rosemary Sipatan Kuraru has formally assumed office as the new Director of Forensic Services at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
Kuraru took over the mantle on Monday, January 20, 2025, from Mwangi Wanderi, who was redeployed to National Police Service Headquarters as the new Director of Human Capital Development.
The seasoned professional took over the mantle in a brief and colourful handing over ceremony witnessed by the Deputy Director Forensic Services, Anthony Muriithi and heads of different sections at the National Forensics Laboratory.

Kuraru brings her wealth of knowledge and expertise to the forensic department, having served for over 31 years in the National Police Service in different capacities.
She has risen through the ranks to a Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG).
Up until her current posting, Kuraru had served as Director Human Capital Development of the National Police Service and Staff Personnel at the Kenya Police Service Headquarters among other senior positions.
While making his farewell remarks, Dr Wanderi thanked the heads of sections for giving him unwavering support in the one year he served as the Head of Forensics Services.

Equally, he warmly welcomed the new Director, urging the Heads of Sections to accord her maximum cooperation and support in a broader endeavour to crack crime puzzles through forensics.
