The ODM leadership in Trans Nzoia County has launched a complaint over the security of some of their officials. The party claims some officials were being trailed by unknown persons who use motorbikes and sometimes unmarked cars.
Led by ODM party branch secretary general John Simiyu, the leadership noted that they have witnessed increased trailing in recent weeks.
They have since reported the matter to the police.
In the report, the ODM Trans Nzoia leadership told the police that their chairperson who is also the Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has been being trailed by unknown persons during a development tour of his constituency with the people questioning local leaders on his speeches.

“Our chair has been being trailed by unknown people with questionable motives prompting us to file the report over his security as we fear for his life,” read part of the party’s statement read by the SG during a presser convened to address the issue.
Trailers ask chiefs questions
The leadership further noted that some of the trailers may be DCI officers as they enquired from the area chiefs about what the leader had talked about.
“We note that our chair has been on various projects funded by NG-CDF in his constituency recently the Kitalale area where after the event the area chief was approached by the group in an unmarked car enquiring on what he had talked about throughout the whole event,” the ODM Trans Nzoia SG said.
The group now wants the police to investigate the issue and bring to book the trailers whom they note to have increased their movement including planting informers in every meeting.
“We want our security personnel to work with speed and bring to book all those whom we suspect as the suspects as they are well known to them,” noted ODM county women lead Dorothy Aliuba.
Moreover, the Orange party leaders have linked the trailing with the recent incident in which the legislator was involved in an altercation with Kinyoro MCA Andrew Kipekee.

Kipekee, elected on the ruling UDA ticket accused the MP of derailing national government development projects in the area due to his opposition.
“We want to send a warning to MCA Kipekee. As his name implies, he is used as a bottle cap and he is too minute to attack the area MP. Let him dance to UDA to please his masters and let ODM be as it will criticize the government,” noted Linah Ochieng, one of the women leaders in the party.
Vibrant opposition
The party officials further wondered why the government was harassing them for criticizing them yet the president said he wanted a vibrant opposition.
“Let them be ready to be criticized by us for the ills they are doing to Kenyans and for the issue of MCA Kipekee he is just an empty-headed leader who is nursing rejection from his backwards thus venting his anger on the MP,” said Edward Adik, the ODM branch representative for persons living with a disability.
Area security personnel have confirmed receiving the report but declined to comment on the issue. They cited the sensitivity of the matter urging the aggrieved parties to avail themselves to record statements.
