Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich on Monday launched a digital revenue collection system to be used across the County.
The Governor, who was flanked by Safaricom Plc representatives, said his administration has partnered with the Company in the automation of services.
Cynthia Karuri Kropac, Safaricom’s Head of Enterprise Business, led other officials during the exercise.
“Payment of Parking fees, land rates, cess collection, business permits, market fees alongside other services are now digital,” said Rotich while addressing Wananchi outside County Star Hotel in Iten Town.

In the new system, all county levies will be payable through USSD code *428#.
Improve the face of Iten town
The Governor toured Iten CBD and markets to sensitise business owners and the public on the new revenue system.
He was accompanied by other Senior Safaricom Plc officials, Deputy Governor Prof. Grace Cheserek, County Secretary Paul Chemmuttut, CEC Finance Alphaeus Tanui, ICT Monicah Rotich and other Senior County staff.
The Governor also indicated that his administration will be improving the face of the Town by carpeting the Iten Matatu terminus.
The County Chief said Kampi Debe and Kapsho will also receive improvement with tarmac access roads.
Governor Rotich said progress towards implementation of President William Ruto’s promise to establish a Four-storey Market in Iten was also on course.

In addition, his administration has also secured Ksh200 million for the improvement of the Sabor water project to increase the supply of water to Iten and its environs.
The Governor further said his administration was also in the process of establishing an industrial park at Elgeyo Sawmills where 100 acres of land has already been secured.
