Trans Nzoia: County to Pay School Fees for All Day Secondary School Learners

/

The County Government of Trans Nzoia will pay school fees for all students joining form one in day schools.

Area Governor George Natembeya on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, promised that the county will sponsor 4,800 students who scored 250 marks and above and another batch of 500 students who got 350 marks and above.

Natembeya however regretted that the number of students who scored at least 350 marks in KCPE was still low and asked all stakeholders in the education sector to collaborate in raising education standards.

He made the sentiments during the launch of a 100 days Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) for the county.

Within 100 days, the Governor said, the County will confirm all ECDE teachers into permanent and pensionable terms and be given a scheme of service.

He will also introduce a school feeding program where ECDE pupils will be given milk and porridge.

My administration will also hire an additional 35 instructors at vocational and training centres and sponsor all students to undergo training as a way of increasing the number of those who will join the institutions,” Natembeya said.

Efficient service delivery

He also said the time of delivering services to the people will be reduced by half to enhance satisfaction.

If it was taking two days to satisfy a certain need, let this be done in a day and if it was supposed to take an hour, it will be done in 30 minutes,” added the Governor.

In three months, Natembeya further said his administration will constitute boards at all health centres and hospitals for efficiency.

He also noted that he will complete all stall markets including Muliro and Railway markets.

We will also ensure all Matatu Saccos have necessary offices and also make sure each market has a toilet,” the Governor said.

Natembeya will also maintain all 225 street lights and clear all bushes along the roads, a menial job he will hire unemployed youth to perform.

All dilapidated cattle dips will be renovated and those whose land has been grabbed will be fenced.

Other services to be offered in 100 days RRI includes putting up community nurseries, improving Machinjoni dumpsite and elevating Kiminini town into a municipality.

I also urge the national government to take advantage of our RRI to register our people with identity cards,” he added.

The function also saw the County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers sign performance contracts.
