Trans Nzoia Deadbeat Fathers Put On Notice

Trans Nzoia County Woman Member of Parliament Lilian Siyoi has called on all women with disabilities to report deadbeat fathers in her office so that they can be compelled to take care of their parenting responsibilities.

Speaking in Kiminini when she donated over 100 disability tricycles, Siyoi said some women have been left to carry the heavy burden of providing for their children without the support of their fathers.

Further, the MP said there men who frequently visit disabled women at night, have fun and even impregnate them.

According to Siyoi, such men should be known and has promised to sponsor DNA tests through her office.

If you really love me, love me throughout and not just during night hours when nobody is seeing you. You women, if you have such cases, bring them to me, if the man is employed, I shall sponsor DNA test so that the man is forced to take their responsibilities,” the County Woman MP said.

Disabled mothers

On his part, Ojiambo Opis, the chairperson of Trans Nzoia Persons Living with Disabilities said some people exploit disabled women promisong them better lives.

We have heard several stories where able-bodied men visit these single mothers. They lie to them that they love them and once they have satisfied their bodily desires, they vanish never to be seen again,” Opis said.

Opis further said raising a child alone as a disabled mother is very stressful and asked deadbeat fathers to be manup and be responsible.

Meanwhile, the Trans Nzoia County Woman MP said her office will provide legal services to all widows who have lost their pieces of land to fraudsters and land grabbers.

My office has received numerous complaints from widows who have lost their lands and because they cannot afford to pay lawyers, my office again will in the month of August have meetings with them so that we see how to help them get free legal services,” she stated

The vocal lawmaker has further made a commitment that by the end of this year, all Persons with Disabilities in Trans Nzoia will have received assistive devices, business tool kit and start up capital through Lilian Siyoi Foundation.

Siyoi is a passionate defender of women, children and youths rights.

She advocates for youth and women empowerment as well as poverty eradication.
