A section of FORD Kenya party members and supporters in Trans Nzoia County has defended their party leader Moses Wetangula against attacks from his critics.
The angry party lieutenants staged a peaceful protest on the streets of Kitale town on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Led by the party’s branch deputy secretary general, Boaz Werunga, the FORD Kenya members said there are no sufficient grounds to remove Wetangula, who is also the Speaker of the National Assembly, from the office through impeachment.
“We have noted with concern that some selfish and egocentric people want to remove our Speaker from office. We are telling them that we can’t take that lying down,” Werunga said.
Harrison Wesa, the party’s youth league chairperson said the people fronting the impeachment agenda are malicious.

“It is in public domain that Moses Wetangula has performed exemplary as the Speaker of the National Assembly and they want to dim his shining political star, what is that if not malice?” Asked Wesa.
Other party members Andrew Wafula and John Sululu called on President William Ruto to defend Wetang’ula from what they described as unwarranted attacks.
“We all know that 2022 elections were won and lost in Bungoma courtesy of Wetangula. We want him respected as a co-principal in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance,” said the duo.
They also called on all elected leaders from the vast Western region to stand in solidarity with Wetangula.
There have been reports of a plan to kick Wetang’ula out office following his controversial ruling about the majority and minority sides in the National Assembly.
Wetang’ula maintained his ealier ruling that Kenya Kwanza was the majority despite the High Court squashing his ealier similar declaration.
