The County Government of Trans Nzoia is putting final touches on the preparations for disbursing Elimu bursary funds, aligning with Governor George Nayembeya’s vision of “Education for All.”
Speaking during the heads departments meeting held in Kitale, County Executive Committee Member for Education and Vocational Training, Janerose Nasimiyu Mutama, announced that the long-awaited bursary scheme is set to kick off.
This after the standoff between counties and the members of the National Assembly concerning the legal framework of bursary distribution.
“This bursary fulfills our governor’s campaign pledge to ensure that no bright student is left behind due to lack of fees,” CECM Mutama affirmed.

She emphasized that the financial aid targets needy students who have been forced to remain out of school due to financial constraints.
The department, after consulting with key stakeholders, is preparing to launch the bursary rollout.
Mutama urged school principals to keep students in class, stressing that sending them home over unpaid school fees only worsens their academic performance due to lost time.
The bursary is anticipated to boost school attendance and reduce dropout rates across the county, with the CEC member expressing concern that delays in disbursement continue to obstruct access to education at a national level.
Top county government officials in the department of Education attended the meeting.
The Elimu bursary marks a hopeful turning point for students in Trans Nzoia County, bringing Governor Nayembeya’s promise to reality.
