The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula has assured the residents of Trans Nzoia County that they will soon get three Cabinet Administrative Secretaries (CAS).
Wetangula made this revelation in Cherang’any Constituency during the launch of issuance of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) bursary for 8,000 beneficiaries.
He noted that President Ruto appointed former Kiminini Constituency Member of Parliament Chris Wamalwa, former Cherang’any Constituency lawmaker Wesley Korir and former nominated Member of Trans Nzoia County Assembly Ann Wanjiku as CAS’s.
“The legal framework has been put in place and the President has assented to the law and soon the three will start their work,” Wetangula stated.
Before the court declared the positions null and void, Wamalwa had been appointed Water CAS, Korir (Sports) and Wanjiku CAS in the office of the Deputy President.
Finance Bill 2024 debate
Meanwhile, the National Assembly Speaker called on 349 members of Parliament not to discuss 202 Finance Bill in public events.
“To all the MPs, save the wanachi the agony of going to funerals and crying more than them. Wait for the finance bill, debate on it and eventually you will make decision because you were elected to represent them,” he urged.
Wetangula who is also FORD Kenya Party Leader said he will respond to his opponents.
“I don’t have time for those who keep on insulting me. In addition, I cannot insult them because I am way beyond that. I believe in the sound of silence and the sound of silence is loud than the words that are spoken,” he stated.
Wetangula was in the company of host MP Patrick Simiyu, Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza), Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, his Trans Nzoia counterpart Allan Chesang’.
The leaders asked the National Assembly Speaker Wetangula not to focus on his greatest opponents on Western region.
Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya and Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi have been been blaming Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi for Western region economic stagnation and perceived poverty.
