The National Cereals and Produce Board has assured farmers of continued supply of topdressing fertilizer as trucks began arriving at its Eldoret depot, easing concerns over shortages during the critical planting season.
Speaking to farmers at NCPB Eldoret Silos on Friday, June 5, 2026, Ag. Managing Director CPA Samuel Ndung’u said more fertilizer was on the way and urged farmers to be patient as their concerns were being addressed.
He was accompanied by Administration Secretary in the State Department of Agriculture Harun Khator and NCPB Regional Manager North Rift Gilbert Rotich.
“More fertilizer is on the way and I urge farmers to be patient as their concerns are being addressed,” Ndung’u said, as trucks ferrying top-dressing fertilizer arrived at the Eldoret depot during the address.
NCPB confirmed the fertilizer “is being distributed to all depots and last-mile selling centers” to ensure farmers access the subsidized input they require.
What Governor Bii said about topdressing fertiliser
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim welcomed the consignments, commending President William Samoei Ruto for “steadfast commitment to transforming agriculture and empowering farmers through access to affordable farm inputs.”
“The arrival of these consignments is a significant boost to our farmers. Through the Eldoret depot and our network of last-mile distribution stores across the county, farmers will be able to access subsidized fertilizer conveniently,” Governor Bii said.
He added that the intervention “reflects a deliberate and sustained effort by the national government to enhance agricultural productivity, lower the cost of food production, and strengthen Kenya’s food security agenda.”
The arrival of the trucks comes days after farmers in the North Rift raised concerns over limited availability of CAN fertilizer in NCPB stores during the region.
