Uasin Gishu Fire Officers Rescue Property Worth Millions at Paul Boit Secondary, School Closed Indefinitely

Quick response efforts by Uasin Gishu County fire fighters saved property worth millions of shillings after a fire broke out at Paul Boit Secondary School in Kamagut Ward, Turbo Constituency, last night, June 8, 2026.

Acting Director of the Fire Department, Fredrick Serem, said the county received the alert late at night and responded immediately.

It was around 11pm when we received Information about the fire at the school, and our offcers responded switly. When they arrived the fire was spreaifng fast,” Serem said.

He confirmed the fire started in the school’s main store. Firewoords, matresses and other food in store was burned. However, No casualties were reported.

Serem added that investigations are underway after reports implicated students.

Reports indicate some students might have been inloved and the school as been closed for an unknown number of days as probe continues,” he added.

The department also assured residents of its capacity to handle emergencies.

As a county we have sufficient equipemt to handle such fires and we urge locals to always use our emergency lines for swift response,” the official said.

The school administration has sent students home as investigations continue.
