Uasin Gishu Girls Edging Closer To Hela

Uasin Gishu County Ladies Team has qualified for Sunday’s semi-finals of the Talanta Hela National Football Tournament that is underway in Nairobi.

The girls lived to the billing after seeing off West Pokot 5-2 in a quarter-final match played at Moi Stadium Kasarani Annex, on Friday.

Manda Were opened the score sheet for Uasin Gishu with a goal in the 12th minute before Mary Tricia successfully converted an assist for a second goal 18 minutes into the start of the match.

West Pokot rallied and got a goal in the 46th minute, the scoreboard closing 2-1 going into the breather.

Mary Tricia made it a brace 15 minutes into the second half before West Pokot got theirs seven minutes later. Frinze Kavetma also gave Uasin Gishu a fourth goal in the 72nd minute.

The Charles Kimeli-coached Uasin Gishu girls dominated the last 20 minutes. Manda came back for a brace three minutes to the end of conventional time, signing off with a 5-2 victory for Uasin Gishu, under sunny skies at the Kasarani Annex pitch.

County Executive for Sports, Eng Lucy Ng’endo and Director of Sports, Henry Mukolwe, were on to cheer the team.
