Uasin Gishu County teams continue to bask in glory at the ongoing Talanta Hela Football Tournament following victories from their Sunday’s assignments.
The boys’ and girls’ teams are on the verge of sailing through to the semis of the tournament currently underway at Moi Complex Primary School in Nyeri County.
On Sunday, the girls walked over Laikipia County 11-1, to collect six points and accumulate 17 goals from three matches played. They lost 3-0 to Busia on Saturday.

The boys registered their third straight victory on Sunday, with a 4-1 win against Kirinyaga. They top the pile with nine points.
Oasis of football talent
Director of Sports, Henry Mukolwe is elated that Uasin Gishu, well known for athletics and volleyball, is proving itself as an oasis of football talent.
Charles Kimeli is the girls’ head coach and says: “I am happy that the girls did not let Saturday’s loss ( to Busia) dampen their spirits.”
“Their play today tells that they are determined for a good play and most importantly, qualify for the finals in Nairobi next month.”
Boys’ head coach, Fred Owino, is happy that his stable has maintained an unbeaten run.

“The team is strong and focused and like we said, we are taking one match at a time. We are happy for the victories so far and ready for the remaining matches.
The last pool matches will be played on Monday.
Boys’ Pool A has Uasin Gishu playing Mandera and Kirinyaga facing Kwale while Pool B has Kisii against Kakamega and Embu vs Homa Bay.
The girls from Uasin Gishu are up against Marsabit on Monday from noon, while Laikipia go against Migori in Pool A.
Pool B has Homa Bay vs Kiambu and Nyandarua vs Machakos.
