2022 KCSE candidates who secured admission to join various institutions of higher learning have been reporting to start their new educational journey for the last two weeks.
But for one Brian Momanyi, a bright student from Matharu Village in Kesses Constituency, his dream of joining university is hanging in balance.
Brian scored a B in the last year’s KCSE. He secured admission to Kisii University to pursue Education Science (Chemistry and Biology).
He was a student at Kebulonik High School in Nandi County.
However, according to a local in the village, the student has not been able to join the university for lack of school fees.
Parents ran away due to challenges in marriage
His parents have since left Brian who is now forced to take up the parental role for two other younger siblings.
“When Brian finished exams, he came back home and found parents had issues in their marriage. The mother ran away in January leaving him with two other children alongside their step father,” the local who identifed himself as Peter told Uasin Gishu News.
“The step father would a few months also leave the children on their own,” he added.
Brian and his two siblings – a boy and a girl still in primary school now live in a rental house within Equator area on their own.
Peter is now calling on well-wishers to come to the rescue of the student so that he can join university in pursuit of his dreams.
“I call upon anyone who is willing to help Brian join university so that he can in future support his siblings,” the local said.
Brian’s brother is in class 8 while the sister is Grade 6.
