Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works Eng. Joseph Lagat and his team met with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) drawn from Kapseret and Kesses Sub Counties to strategize how to implement road projects in 2024.
The two separate meetings also looked at the department’s successes and discussed new formulas for implementing projects in the remaining 2023/24 financial year.
During the meeting, the MCAs pledged to support the programs fully and adhere to the agreed resolutions for each Sub-County as they push to support the realization of the Nguzo Kumi Agenda number 6 on infrastructure development.

The department will hold similar meetings with MCAs from Moiben, Soy, Turbo and Ainabkoi Sub-Counties.
Since the start of the 2023/2024 Financial Year, the Roads Department has been working on a program that has seen several new roads opened and existing ones upgraded in each of the 30 wards.
The county has set a target of grading at least 1,200 roads and gravelling 400 kilometres of roads this financial year.
“We have 3,500kms of county roads and we want to grade 1,200 of those – most of them are in good condition,” the Roads CECM said in October 2023.

In the 2023/2024 Uasin Gishu County Budget, Ksh462.9 million has been allocated for the construction of roads.
