Uasin Gishu County Public Service Management County Executive Committee Member Elijah Kosgei on Tuesday met with County union officials to address concerns over medical cover provisions in major hospitals.
The union officials, led by its chairperson Benjamin Talam had raised issues about the availability of healthcare services for county employees under the existing medical cover.
In response at the County Chambers on, CECM Kosgei assured the union that the County administration has been actively engaging with various hospitals to expand the medical cover. He announced that currently major hospitals are being on boarded into the cover.

“The County is committed to resolving this matter. We are in the process of onboarding major hospitals into the medical cover, and I am pleased to report that Lifecare and Reale Hospitals, along with seven other facilities, are already providing services to our staff,” said CECM Kosgei.
PSM Chief Officer Jelagat Tirop added that efforts are underway to ensure that all major hospitals will be incorporated into the medical cover within the next two weeks.
She also highlighted a challenge faced by the County, noting that delays in the release of funds by the national government have hindered timely payments to the insurance company, causing disruptions in service provision.
The County’s initiative is expected to significantly enhance access to healthcare services for employees, addressing a key concern raised by the union and demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce, despite the financial hurdles.
