The University of Eldoret has successfully held its first Men’s Health and Wellness Event.
The event which was held on May 14th and 15th, 2025, aimed at promoting better health among male staff and students.
Organized by the University Health Services Department in partnership with the AIDS Control Unit, the event brought together medical professionals from Tophill Hospital and fitness experts from Rupaz Fun and Fitness Centre.

According to a statement shared on the university’s social media platforms, the initiative seeks to address long-overlooked health challenges facing men.
It also seeks to encourage early intervention among staff and students.
Tophill Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Florentius Koech led a team of experts including a general surgeon, physician, psychologist, nurse, and fitness coach.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nicholas Makau lauded the program, noting its timeliness in addressing chronic conditions affecting men on campus.

In addition, a health camp held at the university offered free screenings and treatment for various conditions.
Participants welcomed the initiative and called on the university to establish it as an annual tradition to promote health awareness and wellness among the student body.
