Moiben MP Silas Tiren has cried foul over combined efforts by UDA candidates calling for a six-piece voting pattern in Uasin Gishu County.
Tiren is among the candidates in the county that have been targeted in the six-piece call. This is after he opted to seek re-election as an independent candidate.
But the legislator seeking his third term says he has done nothing wrong to warrant the attacks he is facing.
“What wrong have I done? If I have done anything wrong, tell me and I will quit the race. Have I eaten your money?” the MP asked during a campaign in the constituency.

Further, he lamented that despite working hard to effectively deliver services to the people, over 20 candidates had ganged up against him.
For the last few weeks, UDA candidates for various seats, led by Governor Jackson Mandago have been holding regular campaigns across the county, calling on voters to reject individuals vying on an independent ticket.
“Mungu anaona nyinyi mahali mko. Nimewafanyia kazi…mimi pia ni mtoto ya mtu kama wengine, nashambuliwa bure na zaidi ya watu 20,” the legislator who has stood out over the years in advocating for farmers’ issues said.
Support for William Ruto in Moiben
In the Moiben MP seat race, Tiren is facing off with UDA Prof. Phylis Bartoo and former Eldoret East MP Joseph Lagat who is also running as an independent candidate.

And with the fight against his candidature being pegged on the fact that he was against Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid, Tiren says he fully supports the UDA party leader.
He however wants him not to campaign against him.
“Mimi pia na support William Ruto na ninamuombea. Lakini nataka pia aombee mimi, awache kupiga mimi vita,” said the MP who was first elected to Parliament in 2013.
And Tiren says there is no need for all the other candidates to gang up against him, just because he is not vying on a UDA party ticket.

However, during his last visit to the area last week, the DP rallied voters to support candidates seeking elective seats on the UDA ticket alone.
