Eldoret-based gospel singer William Getumbe has revealed plans to collaborate with several prominent singers this year.
In an exclusive interview with Uasin Gishu News, Getumbe said the collaborations will seek to build on the successes he witnessed in 2024.
Last year, the ‘Yesu Ninyandue’ hitmaker collaborated with controversial singer Embaramba. It’s a collaboration that he admits helped his music grow.
“My songs performed well last year, especially after the collabo with Embaramba and advocacy on fistula,” the singer said.

“I had an increase in social media following, and all my songs had over 100,000 views on YouTube,” he added.
Which singers will William Getumbe collaborate with in 2025?
As the year starts, the gospel singer said he has lined up at least five collaborations. Among those he plans to do music projects together include secular content creators Dem wa Facebook, Obinna and Stevo Simple Boy.
Others are gospel singers Justina Syokau and Stephen Kasolo.
Clarifying why he will feature secular artists, Getumbe said, “Christians don’t support talents of gospel singers in Kenya. Their support has been very limited.”
“I will work with people who support my work. At the end of the day, we’re all looking at results,” he added.
What challenges did William Getumbe face in 2024?
Despite registering impressive numbers on YouTube for his songs, William Getumbe believes it would have been better.
He named legal tussle with the Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) as a major hurdle he witnessed last year.

KFCB censored his controversial ‘Yesu Ninyandue’ song.
“This song would be at over 10 million if KFCB didn’t come for me. Ningekula poa sana,” he said.
But despite the standoff over the song, Getumbe insists he will continue releasing controversial songs because they sell.
