Armed Robbers Raid Ex-CS Henry Rotich Parents’ Home in Moiben

Police officers in Eldoret town have launched a probe into an incident in which armed robbers are said to have raided the home of former Finance Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich’s parents in Tendwo, Moiben Sub County.

The incident happened on Monday night.

According to the police, four robbers were involved in the incident.

They were armed with a machete, a pistol, and 14 rounds of ammunition when they staged the attack.

Ammunitions the suspects were found with.

No one was injured in the attack.

Citizen TV reports that the robbers stole Ksh1,500 and mobile phones from the former CS’s parents.

They were later intercepted in Eldoret town, as they tried to escape.

“Our officers received the report of the robbery incident. We visited the scene and trailed the vehicle the suspects were traveling in along the old Nairobi road in Eldoret town. Occupants were ordered to stop and they complied,” said a police officer who spoke to Citizen TV.

Mobile phones the suspects are believed to have stolen from the former CS’s parents.

“We did a search on the vehicle and four occupants that were in the vehicle were arrested,” he added.

The police say they are now treating the incident as normal robbery even as investigations into the matter continue.

Suspects who were arrested are now in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court.
