UDA Announces Nomination Fee Schedule for Aspirants

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced a nomination fee schedule, outlining the amount each aspirant seeking to vie via the party in the upcoming poll will be required to pay.

In a nomination notice signed by the party’s National Elections Board chairman Eng. Anthony Mwaura, aspirants have also been asked to submit their applications for nominations before the end of this month.

“The application should be done via UDA website,” read part of the notice.

According to the nomination fee schedule, women and youth aspirants will be paying half the amount their male candidates will be required to pay while aspirants living with disabilities will not be required to make any nomination payment.

Individuals seeking to vie for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat on a UDA ticket will have to pay a Ksh50,000 nomination fee for the men aspirants and Ksh25,000 for women and youths.

Male aspirants for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat will have to part ways with Ksh250,000, while the fee has been set at Ksh125,000 for women and youth aspirants for the same position.

Youths seeking to vie for the County Women Representative position will be required to pay Ksh125,000 nomination fee, with the fee set at Ksh250,000 for other women going for the same seat.

A senate aspirant will be required to pay Ksh250,000 to participate in UDA nomination for men and Ksh125,000 for both women and youth aspirants.

Ksh500,000 has been set as a fee for the male gubernatorial aspirant, and Ksh250,000 for the women and youth seeking the governor’s seat.

For the president aspirant eyeing the UDA ticket, the nomination fee has been set at Ksh1 million for men and Ksh500,000 for both women and youth aspirants.

Political parties are expected to conduct nominations for all the seats, except for the presidency between March and April 2022.

The general election date has been set for August 9, 2022, with the official campaign period expected to start in May.

All public servants eyeing elective positions in the poll are required to resign by February 9th.
