Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has revealed that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition will use the upcoming Saba Saba rally scheduled for Friday to kick start collection of signatures to recall all Members of Parliament who voted in favour of the controversial Finance Bill 2023
The Bill has since been assented to law by President William Ruto and was to take effect on July 1, 2023.
Speaking at Kitale Municipal Market, Trans Nzoia County, the former Defence Cabinet Secretary said the MPs and the Head of State went against the wishes of majority of Kenyans who strongly opposed the controversial Bill now law.
Wamalwa said the legislators betrayed Kenyans and should be recalled to pave way for by-elections in their respective Constituencies.

“An MP is there in the National Assembly to represent the electorates who have delegated their authority to them. Our constitution has given powers to the electorates to recall such MPs if they go against the delegated authority and we assure them we shall start collection of signatures beginning Friday next week,” the DAP-K part leader said.
Wamalwa further said the Kenya Kwanza administration has ignored the plight of Kenyans and stated that Azimio will fight for the welfare of suffering citizens.
“William Ruto and his administration has ignored Kenyans. They promised to lower the cost of living but what we are seeing is the opposite. We in Azimio will be there for Kenyans,” he added.
Punishing Kenyans
On his part, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi said the Kenya Kwanza administration is punishing Kenyans by imposing hefty taxes on fuel and other products.
“Prices of every commodity has gone up. It is very rogue and unfair for the government to force Kenyans to cough more in form of taxes to get basic commodities,” Amisi said.
He also stated that the government has wrong priorities.
“Kenyans are not interested with the much hyped affordable housing. Kenyans are concerned about the cost of living, how they take their children to school, how they pay bills and not housing,” the ODM MP he stated.

The High Court has since suspended the implementation of the Finance Act pending hearing and determination of a case filed by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.
But despite the court order, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on Friday announced an increase in fuel prices on the basis of the Finance Act by over Ksh10 per litre.
