Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim on October 12, 2022, met and held bilateral talks with Mayor Lee Jang Woo of Daejeon, South Korea.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Cities and Local Governments Congress and World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders being held in Seoul, South Korea where Chelilim is attending.
During the bilateral talks, the two, with their teams, discussed issues of mutual interest, which included collaboration between Eldoret and Daejeon on technical and soft skills development.
Other partnerships will include the improvement of urban services ranging from traffic management to road design and accessibility among others.

Mayor Lee Jang Woo further said he is working on linking Eldoret and Daejeon technical colleges and institutions to collaborate on skill and knowledge transfer.
He noted that cordial relations will be established for the long-term benefit of the two cities.
Located in the central-west region of South Korea alongside forested hills and the Geum River, the city is known both for its technology and research institutions, and for celebrating its natural environment, with most mountains, hot springs, and rivers freely open for public use.
In his busy schedule, the Uasin Gishu County boss also attended the congress ceremony graced by President Yoon Suk-Yeol of South Korea.
Chelilim was accompanied by the Eldoret Municipality Board chairman Julius Kitur and Eldoret Town Manager Tito Koiyet on the visit to South Korea.
