Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of majority Josephat Lowoi has finally spoken after controversially losing in the UDA nominations.
Lowoi was seeking to get the UDA ticket for the Karuna/Meibeki Ward in Moiben Constituency.
However, according to results announced at the Constituency Tallying Centre, he finished second, behind winner James Serem.
Serem garnered 2,375 votes against Lowoi’s 2,049.
Lowoi had demanded that the results should not to be announced, citing contentions in a number of polling stations.
And with Serem getting the nomination certificate, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) and leader of majority since 2013 insists he won.
“To all my people, Thank you. You know we won but the unacceptable happened,” he posted on his official Facebook page.
He has also asked his supporters to remain strong as he weighs his options.
It is not yet clear whether he has submitted formal complaint to the UDA Disputes Resolution Committee.
He, however, indicated that he will be addressing his supporters on Sunday, where he is expected to announce a way forward.
“Be strong, thank God, accept the insults and above all you know we gave our best in the leadership and campaigns. Karuna/meibeki will remain our home and we will still be subjects of the leadership to come,” Lowoi noted.
The nomination for Member of Parliament seat in Moiben, where Karuna/Meibeki Ward is have already been cancelled, and a repeat set for Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
