The Elgeyo Marakwet County’s Department of Health has rolled out a 100-day vaccination campaign that will cover all four sub-counties.
The exercise aims at vaccinating girls aged between 10 and 14 with Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to protect them against cervical cancer, children between 9 to 59 months with measles-rubella (MR), and pregnant women who have not received Tetanus-Diphtheria.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Joseph Kiyeng who represented Governor Alex Tolgos in the event said the immunization process will involve other agencies such as the Ministry of Education, early childhood development and the Ministry of Interior among other agencies so as to reach out to a bigger population.
“We have a noble duty to spread this crucial information to everyone so that they access the vaccination taking place in all our health facilities.”
