The county government of Uasin Gishu is planning to review the parking and operation of the bodaboda industry within Eldoret town.
This is part of the measures the county in collaboration with the national government wants to implement in a bid to enhance security within the town and its environs.
Plans to review parking of bodaboda operators in the county’s capital came up on October 14, 2022, during a meeting between senior Uasin Gishu Government officials and the County Commissioner Dr Eddyson Nyale.
The meeting was also attended by Uasin Gishu County Secretary Edwin Bett.

Bett said the collaboration aims at ensuring the two levels of government work together in harmony.
Aside from the bodaboda industry, senior county and national government officials also identified trolley operators as another area that needs streamlining.
Enhancing the working environment for the business community was also an issue that came up for discussion in the meeting held at the County Headquarters in Eldoret town.
“The government has a mandate to see to it that there is a good environment for the business community to attract more investors. We must put in place sufficient measures that will enable everyone to operate under a conducive environment to live and do business in,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
Streamline trolley operations
During the meeting, it was also agreed that another meeting is held soon, bringing together all key government sectors among them the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and representatives of the bodaboda operators and the business community.

The meeting will discuss various proposals to improve trolley business operations, traffic laws and the challenge of a rising number of street children in Eldoret town.
While trolley operators have been blamed for causing traffic congestion, the high number of street children has been cited as a threat to security.
Also on the table for discussion was how to improve Agriculture, especially the distribution of subsidized fertilizer that the government recently introduced.
