The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has petitioned the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to transfer a principal for seeking the services of a witch doctor at school.
KUPPET Uasin Gishu Branch Executive Elijah Maiyo in a letter to TSC says the University of Eldoret High School Principal sought the services of the witchdoctor to nab individuals who vandalized a school bus.
According to Maiyo, the move caused fear and injured the Christian faith and norms of the teaching fraternity.
“My office has received information of the presence of an alleged witchdoctor between Sunday 17/03/2024 and Monday 18/03/2024, allegedly conducting an investigation in the school compound following a recent break-in by robbers who vandalized school bus,” read part of the letter dated March 20, 2024.
“I write to request for action against perpetrators of the most unfortunate incident that has caused fear and inures the Christian faith and norms of our teaching fraternity,” he added.
The letter is addressed to the TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia.
Principal threatens teachers
But in a follow-up letter, the KUPPET Uasin Gishu official said the principal had allegedly threatened teachers over the incident.
Maiyo, in another letter to TSC, noted that the school head threatened to wipe out 8 teachers before his time came.
The Principal allegedly made the threat during a staff meeting held on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
He threatened to lead a cleansing session at the school if the principal was not transferred within the next few days.
“I take this opportunity to inform your office that if the principal will still be in school on Wednesday 27/03/2024 at 10 am, I shall be leading a team covered by Divine Powers and the Blood of Jesus to wipe him out of the school compound once and for all,” Maiyo said in the letter to TSC.
“Meanwhile, teachers are advised to interact with him at their own risk. I ask them to pray without ceasing and recite regularly,” he added.
