Eldoret West Maternity Hospital Renamed after Mama Rachael Ruto

Mama Rachael Ruto Maternity Hospital- Eldoret is set to revolutionize maternal and child healthcare in the County, having plans already in place for its official launch therefore becoming a beacon of hope for mothers and their newborns.

Formerly known as West Maternity, this hospital has been rebranded to honor the esteemed Mama Rachael Ruto as a champion for maternal and child health in Kenya.

The hospital boasts a 70-bed capacity and is equipped to provide a wide range of specialized services from antenatal and postnatal care, theatre services, diagnostics laboratory, outpatient unit, newborn unit, and x-ray services thus catering to the various needs of mothers and their babies.

Speaking during a planning meeting, Health Services CECM Dr Abraham Serem noted that maternal and child health is a critical aspect of healthcare that requires specialized attention, expertise, and resources.

By providing a comprehensive range of services under one roof, Mama Rachael Ruto Maternity Hospital-Eldoret is ensuring that mothers and their newborns receive the best possible care in a timely and efficient manner,” said Dr Serem.

Chief Officers Dr Joyce Sang (Clinical Services) and Dr Paul Wangwe ( Promotive and Preventive Health) noted that with its state-of-the-art facilities and a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals, Mama Rachael Ruto Maternity Hospital-Eldoret is poised to make a significant impact on maternal and child health in the region as a referral center.

They said “providing a comprehensive range of services and ensuring the highest standards of care, this hospital is set to become a cornerstone of healthcare delivery in the County because it is a beacon of hope for mothers and their newborns therefore symbolizing a brighter and healthier future for generations to come,”.

Also present was the Director of Health Services Dr Evans Kiprotich.
