ELDOWAS Set for Mass Water Meter Replacement Beginning August 1

The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) has announced launch of an initiative that will see all old and faulty meters replaced.

According to ELDOWAS Managing Director (MD) CPA Dr. Lawrence Tanui, the exercise is targeting all its customers.

It will run for three months, begining August 1, 2025.

In a public notice seen by Uasin Gishu News, CPA Tanui said the exercise targets metres which are aged, faulty and those that have stopped working.

The company said the exercise is part of their regular servicing and maintenance of their water infrastructure.

We plan to carry out a mass Meter Replacement Exercise within our area of service from August 1, 2025, to October 2025,” the ELDOWAS boss said.

The exercise targets aged, faulty and stopped meters as well as meter resizing,” he added.

Why Eldowas is conducting mass water meter replacement drive

Once the mass water meter replacement is complete, the company hopes it will ensure there is proper meter functioning and management of flow rates, accuracy of customers’ water usage data (meter reading and billing accuracy), reliable and efficient water services, reduction of non-revenue water and compliance with Water Services Regulations.

The exercise is meant to ensure correct metre readings for all the metres.

Customers will be notified in advance via SMS, notices or direct contact before ELDOWAS visits their premises for installation.

The meters will be installed and sealed at no cost to the customer,” the company said.

During the visit, the ELDOWAS team MUST be identifiable through ELDOWAS staff IDs. Should you encounter any suspicious or doubtful activity or persons, immediately notify the company,” it added.

However, the company said customers are expected to secure the meters to prevent unauthorized meter tampering, fraud/manipulation and theft.

During the period, therefore, we ask for your patience and cooperation in order to make the exercise a success and improve the delivery of water services,” said the ELDOWAS boss.
