Elgeyo Marakwet: 2 Women Shot Dead By Suspected Bandits Along Tot-Koloa Road

Two women have been reportedly shot dead by individuals suspected to be bandits.

The two were on a motorbike along the Tot-Koloa Road when they were attacked by the armed men on Thursday evening.

They were in a motorbike and the driver is still missing,” a source told Uasin Gishu News.

Confirming the incident, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich termed it as shocking.

We condemn with all strongest terms,” he added.

While it remains unclear where the suspects are from, the county boss urged locals within the nearby Tiaty constituency to support security agencies “to flush out these few criminals who thrive in innocent blood and are well known.”

He further said the Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen and his team together with the KDF have assured them that the criminals will be brought to book to allow the Kerio Valley community to go on their activities without disturbances from these heartless criminals.

On behalf of the county and my family I convey our sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones,” Rotich said.

Anytime we have peace some evil-minded people who thrive in a chaotic environment try to undo all the efforts we have made,” he added.

For over two years, the government has been undertaking Operation Maliza Uhalifu to flushing out the bandits.

While the operation has largely been successful, there have been isolated incidences of the bandits attacking and killing innocent locals.
