Elgeyo Marakwet Students Headed to East Africa Secondary School Games Flagged Off

Five students from Elgeyo Marakwet County who qualified to represent the country in the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association (FEASSSA) in Huye, Rwanda were on Friday flagged off

The five are among 25 overall in Kenya who will be participating in the games.

Captain ladies Valary Kibet will compete in 100m, triple jump, and long jump, led by Captain Mathew Kosgei, the Kenyan champion in 5000m.

Janet Jepkemoi will participate in 800m and 1500m women’s events, while Frankline Kimutai will compete in the 1500m, and Maurine Jepkoech in the 5000m women’s category.

While flagging them off, Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek congratulated them and encouraged them to aim high.

As a county government we shall lobby for more partners for the success of our students,” Prof Cheserek said.

County Executive Committee Member in charge of Sports and Youth Affairs Purity Koima also congratulated them and wished them the best in their competition.

Paul Chemmuttut (County Secretary), Alpheus Tanui (CECM Finance), and MCA Tabitha Kimoning were also present during the event.
