Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Eng. John Barorot has maintained that the County Administration will continue with enforcement mechanisms to ensure that Eldoret town realizes law and order for traders and residents to continue enjoying a conducive environment.
The DG said the focus is to enhance safety across the town for an enabling environment for genuine traders to carry out their business without interruptions.
He spoke at the county headquarters on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, during a meeting with the leadership of Eldoret Jua Kali sector led by their secretary general Richard Opar on their experience on the skirmishes that erupted last week.

“We are waiting for the conferment of Eldoret to be a city and we cannot let some few individuals compromise the conducive business environment that we’ve been enjoying for long,” added Eng. Barorot.
Trade County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Eng. Martha Cheruto further called on the members of the Jua Kali sector to embrace good working relations with the county government for the betterment of the people.
She further urged them to do their business within the law.
Similar sentiments were also echoed by her counterpart for Environment Dr Abraham Serem who challenged them to ensure that they keep their environment clean in their working areas and pay their licenses on time.

The Jua Kali leadership however condemned the uncalled-for incident thanking the county government for the noble initiative of making sure that sanity is restored in the town.
“Most of the criminals and drug peddlers have been hiding in the name of street families causing disturbances across various sectors of trade in the town. We can now do our businesses at peace,” noted Opar.
